		Construction of the Callanish Standing Stones took place around 
		2900-2600 BC. The 13 main stones stand in a circle about 13 metres in 
		diameter, with a long approach avenue of stones to the north and shorter avenues of stones in the other three directions.  |

| The stones are from a local type of rock and are from 1 metre to 5 metres high, with an average of 4 metres. |
